The following is a progress report of the work in Malindi Kenya.

As you will see from the photographs progress is being made on the first building slowly but surely, the two teams who worked on the project have really achieved much. God has been so good to us and has already opened up a door to make it possible to take another building team out to Malindi in July 2009, (proposed dates 10-24 July), so plans are underway to look into booking flights etc. for the twelve members of the team, 8 from Ireland and 4 from Scotland. Each team member has to pay their own costs, flights, accommodation etc., which comes to about £1000 per person. We now need to raise finance for the continued work on the building and I have set the target at £5000 which will help us purchase further building materials needed to advance the building work significantly. I k now that we are all, at one level or another, involved with missions and each project we are involved with needs money invested into it, the Malindi project is no exception.

Can I by way of this report ask you to consider partnering with us in 2009 for the work in Malindi, any financial gift you send will be used exclusively for the build, nothing will be taken from it for administation or anything else.

You can send cheques made out to Church on the Way with Malindi written on the reverse and if you require a receipt we will gladly send you one. Alternatively you can make a donation using our Paypal link at the foot of this page.

We have been supporting the work of Ditte for a number of years now and know that her heart is to allow the children of Kenya the opportunity of love support and education. Will you now consider supporting us so that we can support Ditte in her missionary work to the children of Kenya?

The following is a short reśumė on the call, work and vision of Ditte Thye.

Very aware of her absolute dependency upon God who called her into His service, Ditte Thye left her home in Germany for Kenya in 1993. Since then she has reached thousands of children and youth with the love of Christ and trained many children’s workers countrywide to teach effectively. Until this point the majority of the work has been in the slums surrounding Nairobi, but God has recently expanded the vision of Light of Life Centre.

The aids problem is drastically increasing, leaving more and more children orphaned and without help. Many of these children end up on the street with no-one to care for them or defend their cause. The vision of Light of Life Centre is to construct a rescue centre near Malindi  to shelter destitute and orphaned children and young people in the coastal region of Kenya.

This new facility will contain a meeting centre where children and teens in the community can be reached with the Gospel and equipped to follow Jesus. Classrooms where literary classes will be held, agricultural areas where the children can learn how to make best use of the land, a vocational school to teach sewing, carpentry etc., and housing facilities for needy children and teens who are pregnant, chased away from home or who are orphaned.

What a joy it was to see such progress being made to Ditte’s house / Nursery School.

A team of 4 men from Northern Ireland came to work on the house and were able to do so much. (Thank you to LIFT www.liftni.org for arranging the team)

The bath/shower room was fitted and completely tiled,

The bedroom was completely painted walls and ceiling + all wood beams were varnished and shelves fitted in the cupboard.

Two doors with frames and all hardware fitted

The house completely electrically wired and 1/3 operational by the 9thday using a small petrol generator

The hallway plastered and ready for painting.

Ditte will now be able to move into 1/3 of the house as soon as the security iron bars are fitted to the windows (this should be done by a local tradesman during the first week in August)

There is still quite a lot of work to be done the other bedroom needs to be completely

painted etc.

A kitchen needs to be fitted

Bathroom No 2 needs to be fitted

The hallways to be painted

All Electrical fitting to be installed + Electrical supply powerful enough for all the house usage to be agreed upon (Solar / Generator or wait for the installation of mains power)

The whole of the outside of the house needs to be painted

Septic tank / soak pit to be installed

All floors will need to be tiled.

So as you see much has still to be accomplished before we can start on Phase 2 Building the Nursery School.

If you want to give into this project please send cheque to our postal address or give online by way of PayPal. Thank You
